Bernardo Rivavelarde is a Spanish digital artist and graphic designer.
== Biography ==
Bernardo is a graphic artist. Born in Santander (Spain) he studied graphic design at the Escuela de Comunicación Gráfica of Madrid. In 2005 and 2008 Bernardo Rivavelarde was selected by the acclaimed publisher Taschen as one of the best graphic designers in the world in the books entitled "Graphic Design for the 21st Century", and "Contemporary Graphic Design".
Together with his twin brother, Miguel Rivavelarde (also a graphic artist) Bernardo started their own graphic studio in 2000, working for clients such as CBRE Richard Ellis, Adecco, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Renault, etc.
From 2000 to 2010 Bernardo worked for Nacho Duato, the artistic director for the Compañía Nacional de Danza of Spain.〔http://foroalfa.org/articulos/la-imagen-te-da-alas〕 Nacho Duato is from 2014 Artistic Director of Staatsballett (Berlin) and Bernardo is working back again for him and the Staatsballett Berlin Theater since April 2014.
As a digital and graphic artist, Bernardo Rivavelarde presented in 1998 his first digital exhibition called Escuchando Imágenes (Listening to Images); an artistic proposal to bring together art and graphic design. Screening a selection of images, animations and interactive art works. With “Listening To Images”, Bernardo receives major Spanish awards in graphic and artistic designs, such as LAUS and MOBIUS award.
“Listening to Images” took place in the Valle Quintana Gallery in Madrid. Since his first exhibition, Bernardo has collaborated musically with the Spanish Electronic Music Duo The Lab (Miguel Lázaro & José Corredera). In 1999 “Listening to Images” was selected to be part of the exhibition called "Signs of the Century, 100 Years of Graphic Design in Spain" that premiere opening took place at the Reina Sofia Museum, Madrid, Spain. “Listening to Images” was also selected for the Spanish exhibition "Pasión, Spanish Design" in Berlin, Germany.

In 2003 Bernardo Rivavelarde created a new exhibition entitled Homodigitalis; a 30 minutes animated movie in three parts, The Body, The Machine and The Future. Homodigitalis was projected in The National Library of Spain, Madrid, Spain. Homodigitalis has been also exhibited in Italy, Mexico, and Germany.〔http://www.aquiconfidencial.es/es/notices/2011/05/bernardo_rivavelarde_la_vida_del_hombre_digital_1856.php〕 As in previous exhibition the music was created by The Lab. The “Homodigitalis” movie was released onto DVD and its soundtrack on CD.
In 2012, Bernardo Rivavelarde presents his new exhibition Future Nature〔http://www.deforma.info/es/product.php?id_product=109〕 at the Museum Prince Felipe at The City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia (Spain).〔http://www.escaparatevalenciano.es/content/exposici%C3%B3n-future-nature〕 Future Nature is formed by images, sound landscapes, motion graphics, that shows a new environment molded by new technologies. One more time The Lab composes the sound design. Future Nature was renowned been finalist at the 2011 Japan Media Art Festival (Tokio) and it has been also included in "best of the year category" at 2011 Prix Ars Electronica (Austria).
At the end of 2012 Future Nature was selected to be shown in the 2012 Yota Space Festival in S. Petersburg (Russia).
In summer 2012 Bernardo gets a new client, Zarzuela Theater (Madrid) designing the new graphic identity since then.
